KUALA LUMPUR, 11 June 2026 – SAIC Motor Malaysia today unveiled the local specification of the new MG ZS, MG’s compact SUV, at the KL International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026), which takes place from 12 to 21 June 2026. The line-up comprises two variants — the LUX Turbo and LUX Hybrid+, with the turbo variant scheduled for a later introduction.

Speaking at the unveiling, Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, said the introduction of the MG ZS Hybrid+ and turbo variants reflects MG’s ambition to cater to a wider range of consumer preferences while strengthening its position in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive automotive market.

“Every MG model introduced in Malaysia is carefully selected based on the needs and expectations of Malaysian consumers in today’s competitive automotive landscape. The MGS5 and MG ZS offer a range of popular powertrains that cater to different market segments, while sharing the same smart, forward-thinking features that define the MG brand,” said Qi.

Also present at KLIMS 2026 was Jozef Kabaň, Vice President of Global Design at SAIC Motor, who shared insights into MG’s evolving design language and offered a glimpse into the brand’s future design direction, underscoring MG’s commitment to innovation and forward-thinking mobility.

The MG ZS combines sleek, sporty styling with everyday practicality. Its exterior features a bold front fascia with Connected Hunter Eyes headlights, black grille accents, aerodynamic sculpting, rear LED taillights, smooth rear spoiler and contemporary 18-inch alloy wheels.

As the largest B-segment SUV in its class, measuring 4,430mm in length and 1,818mm in width, the MG ZS offers an open and ergonomic cabin layout with premium materials, enhanced interior space for improved headroom and legroom, and intelligent storage solutions. The vehicle also provides 443 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,457 litres with the rear seats folded down, offering one of the most spacious cabin in its segment. Inside, the cockpit is equipped with a 12.3-inch floating infotainment display and a digital instrument cluster that presents essential driving information at a glance.

Powering the MG ZS Hybrid+ is a 1.83kWh high capacity NCM battery, paired with a 100kW electric motor and a high-efficiency 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, delivering a combined maximum power output of 158kW and 465Nm of torque. Paired with an advanced 3-speed Hybrid Transmission, the MG ZS Hybrid+ delivers a smooth and dynamic driving experience, combining EV-like responsiveness with the convenience of a refined hybrid powertrain without the need for plug-in charging. Capable of accelerating from 0–100km/h in 8.7 seconds, it stands as the fastest B-segment hybrid SUV while offering a driving range of up to 870km on a full 41-litre fuel tank.

All MG vehicles are equipped with MG PILOT Driver Safety Technology, designed to enhance driving confidence, comfort and safety through a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) 2.5 features. Paired with MG iSMART, MG ZS owners can remotely access and control key vehicle functions directly from their smartphones, including keyless entry functionality.

Available in four exterior colours of red, silver, black and white coupled with an all-black interior, the final specifications of the MG ZS will be unveiled at its official launch.

Customers who place an early booking for the MG ZS during the promotional period with a booking fee of RM99 will be entitled to a RM3,000 rebate and three years of complimentary maintenance.

Debut of the IM and IM6 in Malaysia

KLIMS 2026 also marks the Malaysian debut of IM (Intelligence in Motion), SAIC Motor’s premium, luxury-focused sub-brand, offering visitors a first look at the brand’s vision for intelligent and premium mobility.

Taking centre stage is the IM6, all-electric D-segment smart SUV that reflects SAIC’s vision for premium innovation, design and intelligent mobility. Its Malaysian debut highlights SAIC Motor Malaysia’s broader direction as it expands beyond conventional and electrified powertrains into next-generation premium EVs. Measuring 4,904mm in length and 1,988mm in width, the IM6 also offers a spacious and highly refined cabin, complete with a panoramic glass roof, ultra-soft leather-style seats and a range of smart features designed to enhance comfort and convenience. The IM6 delivers up to 600km of range WLTP-rated range, with 572kW of power and 802Nm of torque.

In addition to the MG ZS and IM6 that are on display, SAIC Motor Malaysia is also showcasing the MG HS Hybrid+, MG QS, MGS5 EV and also the Cyberster at KLIMS 2026.

For a limited time during KLIMS 2026, customers who book the MGS5 EV will enjoy RM7,000 instant rebate, a complimentary 7kW Wall Box Charger worth RM2,000 and an additional RM1,000 charging credit. The MG S5 is priced from RM116,900.
